Our Managing Director, Annie van der Merwe
It has always been OTI’s managing director, Annie van der Merwe’s passion to uplift through education. Annie obtained her B Com qualification in 1991 from the University of South Africa, and her B Com Honours in 1993, from the Rand Afrikaans University (now University of Johannesburg). University of Pretoria awarded her M Com degree in 2001.
After gaining a wealth of practical experience she entered the sphere of education in 1994 when she was appointed as lecturer at the Sebokeng College of Education. Thereafter she was appointed at the University of Pretoria and Technikon SA in both financial and academic positions.
In 2007 she was appointed as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Finance and Investment Management at the University of Johannesburg. Here she quickly excelled and became a beloved lecturer to her students and a mentor to her colleagues. In 2009 she was appointed as the Programme Manager for the Financial Management division of the Department, managing all aspects of this field of study, including the leadership of its lectures.
While at UJ Annie became aware of a deep need for professional education on different levels. This prompted her to co-found LH Education in 2007 offering the AAT qualifications. She actively managed and lectured on these programmes helping numerous students on their journey to professionalism. In 2015 LH Education merged with Oxbridge Academy, an etsablished distance learning college in South Africa, to form Oxbridge Training Institute (OTI).
In the ever changing landscape of education OTI has also grown and changed to keep abreast with the needs of learners. The company has expanded and currently not only offer the AAT Accounting Technician qualifications, but also the SAIT Tax Technician- and Generic Management qualifications, as well as short courses in financial skills and work readiness.
